Treatment details
As we recognize effects that chronic pain can have on those who suffer from it, discussing each patient's pain in detail is important to us.
Pain relief begins with a proper diagnosis
Nerves in the body are very sensitive. After asking your medical history, we take a detailed look at your individual pain levels and how they affect you. We help you identify if the cause of your pain is due to stress, physical injury, or other triggers.
Pain relief requires an individualized approach. For example, people with diabetes, heart conditions, or those recovering from serious illnesses must take these factors into consideration. Age, genetics, and diet are also known to affect pain.
Common types of treatment for orofacial pain include:
-
Guidance on home remedies including self-care
-
Making oral appliances (sprints)
-
Physical therapy to improve dysfunction
-
Psychological counseling based on cognitive behavioral therapy
-
Pharmacologic therapy
